Hey I was just curious what the differences were between the A,B, and C series of Altec preamp cans. I know that the 1588C will do phantom power, and that this function works in my 1592A mixer, contrary to what the manual says. (It specifies a 1588A or 15095A line transformer only) Since I have a very low production 1592A this could simply mean that other preamps werent on the market yet. It seems that most people are after the 1588B preamps. In my mixer I have a mixture of As and Cs; Imuch prefer the C's to the A's but keep the A's around in case i need to use a direct box, as the Cs dont like being used with a transformer.

Any insight as to the technical differences between the preamps or any personal prefrences would be appreciated.
